Since the last post was just strictly some packing tips, I figured I'd do a separate post on my day trip to New York. I went with a friend from work and our day started early! We met at the airport super early since our flight was at 6am. We waited around for seats and luckily were able to get on the flight. Once we got to JFK, we took the AirTrain and subway into the city. We were so hungry by the time we walked around for a bit so we stopped into this little cafe and we each had one of the most amazing (and biggest) bagels ever. Even though it was toasted, it was still soft and warm.

Our main reason of coming to New York was she had never been to a store called Century 21 so I wanted her to experience it. After our bagels, that's where we were headed. Since neither of us are professionals in the subway system, we were pretty much winging it just by looking at the maps. We actually ended up finding the store accidentally. We walked in and she was instantly overwhelmed with it. Plus is was super crowded. We must of stayed in that store for about 2 hours or more going to each of the levels they had. First was cosmetics, then clothing, shoes, home accessories. That store literally has everything.
We went to the men's section first and I found this amazing pink wool YSL scarf, that some other lady was eying but I snatched it up before she could get to it. Besides, it was the only pink one. No one was getting it once I had my hands on it. We made our way to the shoes and kind of got lost looking for the women's shoes. We found the boots, but we wanted more flats, or heels. So we went to another section, and that's where I found my next purchase. I literally squealed when I saw them. The Sam Edelman spiky peep-toe heels. I've had my eye on a silver pair online but wasn't sure how they would fit, so when I saw they had a few pairs (different colors though) I had to have them. I ended up getting a faux snakeskin beige/off-white pair. They fit perfectly and because the heel isn't super skinny, so far it's been comfy to walk in. Granted, I've only walked around my house but they're too pretty to keep in the box.

We walked around the store some more, hitting up the home goods section and looking at the pillows and sheets. And of course the clothing section. Nothing really caught my eye there so I passed. It was getting late anyways so we left the store (after witnessing some lady get arrested..maybe for shoplifting?) and started to look for a pizza place. She wanted to have some authentic New York pizza. We found some little corner place and the pizza was really good. Cheesy, greasy and the slices were huge. Oh and we got a free soda as well. So lunch for 5 bucks? Can't beat that.

Next on the agenda was trying to find a good pastry shop to bring some home with us. You can't beat Juniors Cheesecake so that's where we were heading. Got lost once or twice but that's the adventure! We were in a rush though since we timed as to when we'd have to be back at the airport. Finally got our cheesecake and black & white cookies so now it was off to the airport.

I'd fly to New York just to have lunch and dessert at this place.
Again, neither of us are that great at the subway system in New York, so we ended up on the wrong train. Just add that to our adventure. Luckily we found out our mistake pretty quickly and got off at the next stop to get on the right train. But of course, to get to JFK from the subway, you have to take the AirTrain back and it just had to stop at all the other terminals before ours! We were so nervous we weren't going to make it. Plus my bladder was telling me it was about to burst. We were already checked in so we just went straight to security. I was extremely nervous that my shoes might have go through because of the spikes. Once I saw my bag come through the other side of the scanner I instantly smiled, but then it backed up and went back in. That's when my nervousness came back. But thankfully my bag came back out and off to the gate we went. Oh actually I went to the restroom. Finally! Oh and I shattered my phone screen as well. Haha. Everything was going so well so I figured something had to go wrong.
We made it to the gate, which luckily our flight was slightly delayed due to it coming in late from its previous destination. YES! Oh and we even got seats on this flight as well. We were on our way back home! Ended up in middle seats, but other than that, we were tired and ready for our beds. I even caught a tiny nap. All in all it was a great trip and we're already planning the next one.

The Freedom Tower looks amazing on a sunny day (or any other day for that matter). It's just a beautiful building.

New York's architecture on the above buildings is just another reason I love New York.

I actually forgot where this was, but this fountain was in a park that we walked through.

Just a few extra pictures of Times Square I managed to take while waiting to cross some streets.
Thanks for looking!
